Robinson signs first pro contract |
CLEMSON, S.C. – Clemson women’s basketball legend
Amari Robinson announced the signing of her first professional contract on Tuesday evening. Robinson will be joining Lupe Basket in San Martino di Lupari in the Italian Serie A1. She leaves to join them later this year.
Serie A1, the top league in Italy, has 13 teams and features several of the biggest and highest-ranked basketball teams in Europe. San Martino, which was one of the top eight teams in the league this season, qualified for the Serie A1 playoffs this year before bowing out in the quarterfinal. One of the best players in Clemson history and an exemplary student-athlete, Robinson wrapped up her time in college basketball this past season after earning All-ACC honors for the second time in her career. Robinson, who was one of the most efficient scorers in the nation last season, led the ACC in effective field goal percentage (.568) and true shooting percentage (.612) in her final collegiate season. The Douglasville, Georgia native closed her career with 1,900 points and 949 rebounds, ranking third in program history in both categories. Robinson is the most recent Clemson alumna to sign a professional contract. Following, Sarah Diarra (2015-2018), Aliyah Collier (2015-2019), Kobi Thornton (2016-2020), Tyler Bennett (2017-2021), Delicia Washington (2020-22) and Hannah Hank (2019-23), Robinson’s signing marks seven consecutive seasons that Clemson has put a player in the professional ranks.
