David Kopp is in his first season on the Tiger coaching staff in 2016, serving as a student assistant. Kopp was a three-year letterman (2005-07) at Clemson and played eight seasons in the minors.

The Margate, Fla., native was a righthanded starter and reliever on three Tiger teams that advanced to super regionals, including the 2006 squad that played in the College World Series and won the ACC title. Kopp had a 16-8 record and 4.18 ERA in 228.1 innings pitched over 60 appearances (32 starts) in his career.

As a freshman in 2005, he had a 4-3 record and one save in 22 appearances, then had a 6-2 record and 4.32 ERA in 20 appearances in 2006. He earned the win in both the Clemson Regional and Clemson Super Regional championship-clinching victories in 2006.

In his final season as a Tiger in 2007, Kopp was 6-3 with a 3.79 ERA in 18 starts, then was drafted in the second round (No. 71 overall pick) by the St. Louis Cardinals.

He played most of his eight years (2007-14) in the minors in the Cardinals’ organization, reaching as high as Triple-A. He had 27 career wins and a 4.51 ERA in 468.2 innings pitched over 165 appearances (64 starts). Kopp also made the Cardinals’ 40-man roster in 2010.

Kopp, a two-time member of the ACC Academic Honor Roll, was born Oct. 22, 1985 in Coral Springs, Fla.
