I remember walking away feeling like we could’ve/should’ve won, yet still really proud of our team. FSU had been so much better than us for the prior decade, and to actually compete with them was an amazing feeling. I remember being so excited about Tommy Bowden being our coach as a result.

That 1999 team was one of the best 6-6 teams I have ever seen. We played a rough schedule and were very competitive. I feel like that was a great coaching job given our lack of talent and adjusting to a very new scheme.

Lost to 3 undefeated teams that year. Close lost to Marshall and FSU. Lost to VT on the road in which Corey Moore dominated us.

VT and FSU played for the National Championship so you could argue we played one of the tougher schedules in the country that year.
