33% growth is unreal

Oct 29, 2020, 11:58 AM

I can tell you, retail is absolutely insane. Inventories are at historical lows as supply chain is attempting to keep up after all the shut downs. Better get your Christmas presents now as shipping capacities and inventory is going to be nonexistent.

Shipping capacities is going to be a real problem for the next 60 days. Everyone is capped on shipments and air freight is just too expensive right now. Underbelly is non-existent too, so inventory will continue to plunge.

Will be a very interesting Holiday season.

Cases are surging in 39 states. Deaths are surging in 18.

Oct 29, 2020, 1:16 PM

Deaths are a lagging indicator. So, the remaining 21 states with surging cases will start to see surging deaths.

The holiday season should not be about presents, gifts, or retail. The holidays would be magnificent without a single gift being exchanged or a single "black friday" sale. We'd be just fine, and the holidays would be better off for it.

It's not growth. It's rebound.

Oct 29, 2020, 12:09 PM

Shut down, and it tanks. Open up, it rebounds. But it's not "growth".

Chart below may help. Pretend no corona shutdowns. That straight incline keeps going. THAT is where we should be.

flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

you can call it whatever you want, but its growth

Oct 29, 2020, 12:57 PM [ in reply to It's not growth. It's rebound. ]

we grew from where we were at back in March. Can't deny that fact. Now if you want to look at it as rebound, go ahead, but it was never a given and especially at this rate.

Oct 29, 2020, 1:17 PM [ in reply to It's not growth. It's rebound. ]

perhaps mitigation efforts should be integrated.

Re: 33% growth is unreal

Oct 29, 2020, 1:38 PM

I agree that inventory, shipping costs/capacity, etc. will make some supplies very hard to find over the next few months. As the virus spikes and people start hording again, the problem will be even worse. Goods up, services way down is the 2008 recession in reverse.

Not really impressive in any way whatsoever. We are below where we were before the virus. We are in disaster mode. The next year will be a mess.
