SOUTH CAROLINA ADDS THREE-STAR DE (8:22 A.M.)
South Carolina landed three-star defensive end Gilber Edmond on Wednesday morning. Edmond ranks as the nation's No. 1,412 overall prospect and No. 70 weakside defensive end, according to the 247Sports Composite. The 6-foot-4, 215-pound Florida native flipped to the Gamecocks from South Florida. Edmond was a late riser after a strong senior season, and many schools, like Tennessee and Florida State, started to pursue him after the Early Signing Period.

They will sign anybody who is willing to sign with them regardless of who else they are getting.
Instead of worrying about scholarship numbers ahead of time, they simply look at everything after the ink is dry and figure out who to get rid of.
My guess is that there is no connection between the two signings.

Burch is now a DT so probably not related.
They needed DEs and not DTs, now they have both Burch and Pickens as DTs. Setting the edge is going to be fun for them lol

and will probably actually end up a DT, and won't stay on the end.
Burch better sign or that family had better already packed up the moving truck, gotten on the road to lsu, and don't even show up to the ceremony... it will be THAT BAD or worse if he doesn't sign with them...
