I got to thinking and it sounds racist for a white dog to be named cotton.

white with black spots. We named him "Spotty". Then there was the part Chow that was black with tan markings (tan feet, tan dots over the eyes, and a tan "arrow" of hair up his rear), we named him "Blackie". Never had a clue that it would probably be considered racist 55 years later.

We later had a chihuahua that bounced all over the place. We named him "Frisky". I'm sure that offends someone now, just not sure who or how.

If you renamed him “Whitey”, you will probably get approval from the Woke crowd. Either “Whitey or Honkey”.
