With 21 players, that turns out to be a bunch of 4 star recruits, if you use coot math.
With 18,that number goes up to a bunch of 5 stars.

and he may never get another shot to be a HC. There’s no way a good up and coming coach with half a brain would take that job. The best the coots could ever hope for is to get someone who just wants to screw around after retirement like Spurrier and Holtz did.

to USuC and will be "their man" through default.

A lot of coaches are simply not going to bite on USuC this early in the process when there are going to be much bigger football schools with healthier checkbooks gunning for new coaches in a couple of weeks. Here some of the other potential openings:

Michigan (think this one is a given)
Auburn (that $21 Million Malzahn buyout may dissuade Auburn from "needing" a new coach)
Texas (Herman ain't getting it done and Texas has the money to part ways)
Tennessee (at this point they are one step above USuC but still a better coaching gig)
Syracuse (one of the few programs less attractive than USuC)
Vanderbilt (ditto to Syracuse)


Head Coaching jobs probably opening up in the next two years that may cause some good coaches to wait out this years coaching roulette:

Virginia Tech (Fuente has been on a downward trajectory that doesn't look to be improving)
Nebraska (Frost will probably get another year to show signs of life before getting the axe)
UCLA (Chip Kelly caught lightening in a bottle at Oregon only to fall flat everywhere else)
LSU (does anyone think Orgeron will still be coaching at LSU in 2023?)
Real USC (Helton is having a turn-around year this year but was coasting on fumes at the start of the season. Still don't think he is completely safe especially if he has another under-performing year in 2021)

Beamer would be a dream hire from our perspective, as it'd mean they passed on the three candidates you mentioned... Freeze is a wizard of a playcaller and has won everywhere he has ever been, Chadwell is the architect behind one of the most electric offenses in America right now, and Napier has proven to be a quality program builder, having done more with less at Louisiana.

If Beamer is such a great coach, why hasn't he ever been offered a G5 job? Better yet, why hasn't he ever been offered a coordinator job? "But, but he wants the job!" Of course he does... no one else is even considering him as a viable HC candidate.
