Do other conferences have cooties?

Not sure I understand the rationale of not wanting to play out of conference games. I would think protocols for safety will be very similar across conferences. Anybody know why? Is it an attempt to keep conference money within the conference?

In theory I think it was supposed to reduce travel, and they kept that in mind when allowing the NC and Va teams to primarily play each other. Our schedule, of course, involves teams from across the entire 1400-mile span of the conference.
