the sheriffs should resign or be fired. Their job is literally to enforce the law, without opinion. If they feel morally strong enough that it is wrong, they should resign.

I have to agree. Their duty is to uphold the law, not decide which ones they like. That becomes a pretty slippery slope fast.
OTOH, I don't think that the Governor's intention was going around and peaking in people's windows to count heads. I think it was meant to establish a guideline for people to observe and to allow for penalties for really big or deliberate violations.

How about the law that says an officer is to use deadly force if he believes the suspect poses a threat to himself or others?

I’m going to NC for thanksgiving. I told my brother “ you know the governor says we can’t have more than 10”. My brother said “ ok then he’s not invited”.
