Tyler Davis return

Nov 7, 2020, 10:10 AM

If he has a high ankle sprain, like we’ve heard, it could be end of November / first of December before we see him again. If we win today, I would think there wouldn’t be any rush to get him back before Va Tech / ACC championship.

Christian McCaffrey is supposed to be returning this weekend for the first time since Sept 20th for the same injury.

Never having suffered one, is a high ankle sprain just

another way of saying you sprained every muscle between your kneecap and your ankle? Just how high is high in this case?

Not 100% sure but I was on crutches for a month in high school with a high ankle sprain. Of course, we’ve got incredible rehab at Clemson so that time frame is shortened I’m sure.

It means it rolled all the way and swelled like a grapefruit

As opposed to a partial sprain.

It's very painful and turns 30 shades of purple. The swelling usually goes away in a week, but it takes a lot longer to get the flexibility back without pain.

I can completely understand it taking a big man like Tyler Davis 4-6 weeks to recover.

How many werks has it been so far?

He is a really big guy with a really big ankle. So naturally it would take a long time to heal versus a little skinny ankle

Who could argue with that?

TU for not getting all science-y on us.

High ankle sprains aren't all the same but sometimes players never fully recover during a season.

Hope for the best.

Dabo said this week that....

Tyler Davis will be back against FSU.

flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

Dabo told us that Trey Lamar would be back "next week"

Nov 7, 2020, 3:06 PM

every week after the 2017 FSU game and he never played again that season

There are different severities of high ankle sprains. A player can sometimes come back from a mild one after 2-3 weeks, but a severe one can take much longer. Not sure how bad it is for Davis, but his could possibly not be as bad as McCaffrey.
