Will teams opt out of bowls this year if not in CFP?

Nov 29, 2020, 4:49 PM

With all of the covid stuff and then the redshirt year for all involved- besides practice- why? Maybe pride or recruiting?

Not if you're Coastal Carolina and going to your first Bowl ever in only the programs 5th season in the FBS

Considering I went to Coastal Carolina, just want to congratulate them for being officially the second best team in South Carolina edging out the Citadel Bulldogs!

Some may, but I think it's still a nice end of the year reward for players, especially seniors, that may never step on a football field again. If I were a player, I'd want to play in a bowl game, and if I were a coach, I'd definitely push to play.

My take is no if the decision lies with coaches and players. As for conference and school administrators, especially in the B1G 10, it's up to COVID-19 and what the attorneys recommend.

I say no they fo not opt out. Getting to a bowl means more practice and a chance to possibly impress a recruit or two a team is going after.

I'd have to say no they simply because of the money. Assuming the payout is more than what it's going to take to travel (net profit).

I'm sure they'll be tons of players that think they have a chance to make next level... CFP and the 6 NY day bowls for sure.
