He should apply for the Barkley Marathon. Most years nobody finishes. When you apply, if you are selected you get a letter saying, "We regret to inform you that you have been accepted...."

Barkley Marathon

I think it was Karl Meltzer who said he'd rather run Badwater (135 mile race in Death valley with avg highs of 115 degrees) twice (back to back) than run 1 loop (20 miles) of Barkley.

James Earl Ray escape from Brushy Mountain State Penitentiary. He was found, 2 days later, having only made it 8 miles.

Laz (Gary Cantrell), the race director thought to himself upon learning of this story that he could make it 100 miles in that amount of time.

Thus the Barkley Marathon was born.

thought the Barkley might be cool to attempt, then I got a little information on The Barkley then I decided to check marathons off my bucket list, no sense pressing my luck!
