" are just people who aren't good at math, or at least lack the intelligence to learn new things. (or they're just people who love to complain about everything)
My wife was complaining about "new math" while helping our kids with their work. She gave me the worksheet and said something to the effect of "What the heck am I supposed to do with this?!?"
I looked at it for about 1 second and was able to figure out how to do the problem, and what the thinking was behind teaching that method.
It's not that difficult, just different.
Why? I don't know. I'm sure some eggheads sat in a room and determined that was the superior way to teach math. Maybe it was the Illuminati plotting to ruin our children's brains. Beats the heck out of me.
Oh, and to your point, the vote counting is a total joke. It defies all logic.

They counted votes and the person with the most won. Not too complicated.

Here, it's easy. Let's take two numbers. To make it easy, I'll use 3 and 2.
Three is greater than 2.
See? 3 > 2. That means 3 is more than 2.
That's how they counted votes.
