Seems very one-sided.....

Nov 23, 2020, 2:27 PM

Seems everything that happened was controlled by FSU....

I'm sure all the protocol requirements are well documented and available for the medical experts to review. Assuming all are followed - and no one has said they weren't - the final go-ahead meeting should be nothing more than a time for clarification (if need be) and approval. It seems there is too much subjectivity given to the medical folks when the decision should be based on facts. It sounds like pretty much anything can be used to cancel regardless of whether the protocols were followed or not. If the final decision were based on facts, outside influences would also be shut down.

In the event that agreement cannot be reached, one side should not be able to control canceling the game. The ACC has to set up a 3rd party to intervene. It is absolutely unfair for one team to cancel simply because their view is different. Who is to say which experts are the most expert?

There should be agreement within the ACC that costs would be split between the two teams rather than all go to one team should a game be canceled at the last minute. Both teams should have skin in the game.

I assume there was no TV revenue. I know there are a lot of games and one may not make much difference but the entire conference suffers a loss in revenue because one group of experts wants to cancel.

It sounds like the conference recognized this type of situation could happen - and Coach Swinney explained it very well. The established protocols should take precedence over one set of experts. There is no such thing as zero risk. The protocols were established to minimize the risk as much as possible. That should drive the final decision making.

The medical experts are and should be as independent as possible. But until some of these holes are closed, there will be more like this and there is absolutely no recourse under current processes.

The league established the protocol but...

leaves it up to the individual schools whether to play.

There is NO WAY the league is going to force a team to play and assume all of that liability should someone get sisk.

I agree with you. I still think it unfair for one group to call the shots. Maybe some kind of review process by a third party rather than decision making And going back to my first point - the goal is to minimize risk as much as possible. The protocols are set and if they have been followed, their should be little room left to cancel.

Even third party, no one can force a team that’s too scared to play a game to play the game.
