3. Justin Watts QB/WR(6-1, 185, 4.6)
Justin committed on the 27th of November. Watts, a Shrine Bowl quarterback from South Florence, SC, accounted for 7,979 yards and 74 touchdowns during his high school career. He has been nominated for the Mr. Football award in SC. He is also an all-state outfielder and plans to play baseball for the Tigers. Watts, who is projected as a fifth-round pick in the major league baseball draft, says he plans to postpone his professional baseball career. A three-year starter at quarterback, Watts has been promised a shot at quarterback position in college, but may eventually end up as a defensive back or wide receiver, said Mike Watts, his coach and father. Watts, 6-1, 195, runs the 40 in 4.6 seconds. He completed 132 of 238 passes for 1,746 yards and 10 touchdowns as a senior, while rushing for 1,052 yards, 15 touchdowns on 180 carries. Watts' career totals include 2,618 yards and 40 touchdowns rushing, 4,757 yards and 30 touchdowns passing, and 604 yards and four touchdowns receiving. He is an honor roll student. 4. Dymon Adams RB/DB(6-0, 205, 4.5) Asheville, NC
Dymon Adams, a 6-0, 205 pound running back/defensive back from Ashville, NC. Adams rushed for 1,786 yards and 18 touchdowns on 293 carries last season at Roberson High in Skyland, NC, near Asheville. He grew up as a Clemson fan and attended the Tigers' camp last summer. On defense, Adams intercepted three passes and returned two for touchdowns. He also recovered three fumbles and had two quarterback sacks. Adams would like to play running back in college but he's been projected as a defensive back. "It doesn't matter ," he said. "As long as I get to play, I'll play anywhere." Adams attended Clemson's football camp last summer, and clocked a 4.48 in the 40 earlier this year. Sullivan will also be tried as a punter. He averaged 44 yards per punt as a senior. Rushed for 960 yds. avg. 7.6 yds. per carry his senior season. Rushed for 1,400 yds. as a junior. He had 16 runs of over 50 yds. Also added over 200 yds. in receptions. Blue Chip A-A #15 RB in SE; SuperPrep A-A, #16 RB in nation; Nat Rec Adv All-Region. He was also recruited by Oklahoma, Northwestern, Tennessee and South Carolina.

6. Terry Witherspoon TB(6-1, 230, 4.5) Monroe, NC.
Witherspoon, who runs a 4.5 second 40-yard dash, rushed for 1,002 yards last season at Monroe High. He rushed for 17 touchdowns, caught one touchdown pass, and passed for another score. He played five positions during his senior season - tailback, fullback, tight end, linebacker and defensive end. Monroe High coach Tad Baucom described Witherspoon as "a very powerful runner and a good blocker." As a junior, Witherspoon returned three kickoffs for touchdowns and rushed for 922 yards and 14 touchdowns, while averaging 8.3 yards per carry. He runs the 100-meter dash in 10.9 seconds and has a 31 -inch vertical jump. The publication compares him to former UNC star Ethan Horton and describes him as "a lean, strong running back with a linebacker's body and a wide receiver's fluidity." Witherspoon made Plylers Pre-Season All-American Team. Blue Chip A-A, #5 RB in ACC region; SuperPrep #6 player in NC; Lemming A-A; Nat Rec Adv A-A. 7. *Sam Zanders TB/FB(6-1, 205, 4.5) From Milford Prep in PA
Sam Zanders, a 6-1, 205-pound running back from Arlington, VA. Zanders, who played last season at Milford Academy in Connecticut, enrolled in January and will count toward last year's recruiting limit. He rushed for 1,200 yards last season for Milford’s 10-2 team. He scored 10 touchdowns, including a pair of kickoff returns. Zanders picked Clemson over Tennessee and Virginia Tech. He will be the third former Milford player on the Tiger roster, joining offensive lineman Mark Landry and defensive back Damond Ward.

9. Mike Seth WR(6-1, 180, 4.5) Sumter
Mike Seth, a 6-1, 180-pound wide receiver from Sumter, SC. Seth, who caught 45 passes Sumters 14-1 state runner-up team, will join former teammate Carl Baker on the Clemson receiving corps. Last year’s state runner-up in the 100-meter dash, Seth runs a 4.5 40. He's described by recruiting analyst Mickey Plyer as a "good looking athlete, who runs well and has good hands ... but speed is his best quality." 10. Brian Wofford WR/DB(6-0, 155, 4.4) Spartanburg, SC
Wofford caught 46 passes for 923 yards, and 8 TD's. He also had 6 interceptions as a DB. As a Jr. he had 38 receptions for 767 yards, and was the state 400 meter champion. He has a best 40 time of 4.36. He was named to Mickey Plyler's Pre-Season All-American Team. Wofford is the 3rd player from the state champion Spartanburg HS FB team to commit to the Tigers. He joins LB Harold Means, and DB Jarvis Davis. Wofford said that Davis' commitment didn't have any effect on his decision. Wofford said, " I thought about it long and hard last night, and I thought that I wanted a school that would be best for me. I also looked at what was in my heart and that was Clemson. Wofford was the only player to start both ways for coach Doc Davis at Sptbrg. He was named to the SC Shrine Bowl team as a DB but said that coach Tommy West "was looking at me really hard at WR." Analyst Mickey Plyler wrote this about Wofford. He is one of the best Athletes we have seen over the past 2 seasons. He has the ability to play early, and be a fine WR or DB. He is a special player, who is also a track star. Wofford is one of the best WR in the country. He makes the difficult look easy. 11. *Jason Gamble OL(6-4, 280) Hutchinson (Kan.) Junior College
Jason Gamble, a 6-4, 280-pound offensive lineman. Gamble earned junior college All-America honors last season at Hutchinson Junior College, and was named Jayhawk Conference offensive lineman of the year. 12. Rod Joseph OL(6-5, 305) Northwestern High
Rod Joseph, a 6-5, 305-pound offensive lineman from Northwestern High in Rock Hill, SC, is a unanimous All-Region 2-AAAA selection and a Shrine Bowl pick. Northwestern coach Jimmy Wallace describes Joseph as "a great kid with tremendous potential. He's big and strong, and he's got good feet for a 300-pounder. Most people feel he'll be a great pass protector." Blue Chip Hon Mention All-Region; SuperPrep #12 player in SC; Lemming #78 player in Mid-Atlantic; Nat Rec Advisor All-Region. Theo Mougros, a 6-3, 270-pound defensive lineman from Tarpon Springs, FL. Mougros earned Florida Class 5-A all-state honors for Tarpon Springs, which compiled a 9-2 record last season. His high school coach describes him as "a great pass rusher." Blue Chip All-Region. Mougros visited Virginia Tech and Wake Forest, and canceled a scheduled visit to Auburn.

14. Ray Redzaniak OL(6-4, 270, 5.0) Clark, NJ.
Plyler says he is one of the best OL in the Northeast. Redziniak, a 6-4, 270-pound all-state lineman from Clark, NJ. He was a two-year first-team all-state selection, and a four-year starter at Johnson High School. He played offense and defense last season for a 15-0 team that allowed just two scores all season. Blue Chip A-A, #9 OL in East; SuperPrep #20 player in NJ. Redziniak had taken unofficial visits to Georgia, Syracuse and Maryland, and was also recruited by TN, Miami, Pittsburgh, KAN, MD, Iowa, and Michigan State. He runs a 4.9 second 40 yard dash and bench presses 400 pounds.

15. Mark Striewing OL(6-3, 265, 4.8) Blacksburg, SC
Matt Striewing is a 6-3, 265-pound linemen from Blacksburg, SC. Striewing, who runs a 4.8 40-yard dash is projected as a pulling guard, but will likely be given an opportunity as a defensive lineman as well. He earned South Carolina AA all-state honors on defense last season, but played on the offensive line in the North-South All-Star Game. On defense, he finished his senior season with 125 tackles and 16 quarterback sacks. In addition to playing on the offensive line, he played as a fullback and tailback in short-yardage situations, rushing for 60 yards on 16 carries and scoring a pair of two-point conversions. Striewing has been projected as an offensive lineman, but he said Clemson coach Tommy West told him he'd be able to try offense and defense. 16. Lorenzo Bromell DL(6-6, 250, 4.8) GA Military
Bromell had 8 sacks and 52 tackles last year at GM, the same school that sent DL Eric Bradford to Clemson last year. Bromell played TE his freshman year, then moved to DE as a senior. He played in an all-star game on Sportsouth, and was a terror on the DL, this kid can play. His coach said he has the frame to carry 275 lbs. He chose the Tigers over TN, Bama, UGA, and AUB.

17. Terry Bryant DL(6-4, 250, 4.7) Savannah, GA
Bryant had originally committed to ND, but the Irish withdrew the offer when they got a verbal from DL Lance Legree of St. Stephen, SC. He is the 6th DL to commit to the Tigers. Bryant was named an all-state lineman at Johnson HS. He had 107 tackles, 6 sacks, 6 fumble recoveries and 2 blocked passes his senior season. He is said to be a excellent pass rusher. He played some TE, and has good hands. Blue Chip Dream Team #13 DL in nation, #5 DL in SE, SuperPrep A-A, #12 DL in nation, #13 player in Dixie; Tom Lemming A-A, #58 player in SE, Nat Rec Advisor A-A, #8 Strong-Side End in nation. He is also a very good basketball player. His father said he had visited ND, GaTech, and USC, after drawing early interest from FL and Miami.

18. Gary Childress DL(6-4, 250, 4.7) Tennessee.
Gary Childress, a 6-4, 250-pound defensive lineman from McGavock High In Nashville, TN, is the brother of Clemson freshman linebacker O.J. Childress. He was named one of TN's top 12 players by Forrest Davis. Childress, who runs the 40 in 4.7 seconds, is rated as one of the top 10 defensive linemen in the Southeast region by BlueChip Illustrated. He earned all-state honors as a junior, while playing mostly as an offensive center. He’s so quick and agile that scouts think he projects as a defensive linemen at the next level...Very smart and tough, says BCI. 19. Jason Holloman DL/OL(6-4, 250, 4.8) Atlanta, GA.
BCI all-region, had 150 tackles, 8 sacks, 6 tackles for loss, 3 fumble rec., 3 caused fumbles also recruited by USC, PSU, UGA, AUB, Ga Tech, and KY. Holloman is rated as one of the top 25 DL in the state of GA by recruiting analyst Mickey Plyler. Blue Chip Hon Mention All-Region; SuperPrep #87 player in Dixie.

20. Fred James DL(6-2, 260, 4.8) St. Stephen HS, SC
Analyst Mickey Plyler wrote this about James, we like him as a pass rusher, it is difficult to find natural pass rushers at the HS level, but James fits the bill. He camped at Clemson and we think the Tigers are in good shape with this excellent student. SC North-South all-star ranked 3rd in his class. Jason Martinelli is a 6-5, 245-pound outside linebacker from Roxbury, CT, who played last season at Milford Prep. Martinelli was a three-year high school starter who had 155 tackles and 17 quarterback sacks last season. SuperPrep #12 player in New England. He chose Clemson over Miami, Illinois, N.C. State, East Carolina and Minnesota.

24. Harold Means LB(6-0, 207, 4.7) From Spartanburg HS, SC.
He was captain of the Vikings defense the last 2 years. He comes from the same HS that sent UPI National Freshman of the Year Anthony Simmons to Clemson. Means had 170 tackles his senior year. Spartanburg won 30 straight games with Means @ ILB, including 2 straight State Big 16 Championships. Lemming #83 player in Mid-Atlantic. Means was also recruited by USC.

25. Idris Price LB(6-2, 218, 4.4) Milford Prep
Price who is rated the #4 LB in the country, and the Northeast DEF player of the year by Superprep magazine had 42 tackles for LOSS, with 26 sacks. Price has a consistent 4.4 with a best of 4.36 in the 40. #4 player in New England; Lemming #64 player in East; Nat Rec Advisor A-A. CT HS all-state: Fresh, Soph., & Jr. season CT HS player of the year as a Jr. He had to go to prep school his senior season, due to age. He played FB his junior year and rushed for 1700 yds.

27. *Demarco Fox DB(6-0, 175, 4.6) From Philadelphia, MS
Fox originally signed last year. Enrolled in school in January '96. A 6-1, 190-pound, 4.5, defensive back from Philadelphia, MS, Fox was a second-team Mississippi all-state selection his last two years of high school. He started at quarterback and defensive back for Neshoba Central High. He rushed for 850 yards on 94 carries and passed for 536 yards and eight touchdowns.

28. Warren Lott DB(6-3, 215, 4.6) Warner Robbins, GA
Lott was chosen All-State at 4-A Warner Robbins HS. He said that he would probably play OLB, though he believes he could play safety in the nickle-package. He chose the Tigers over UGA, and the Gators.

29. Ryan Romano P/PK(5-11, 185) West Palm Beach, FL.
Avg. 40 yds. per punt, was 12-15 on FG as a senior at Cardinal Newman High with a long of 47 yds. Blue Chip Hon Mention All-Region. Romano was also recruited by Purdue, Stanford and Vanderbilt.
