only yielded one hit, one run, and one walk with four strikeouts in 3.0 innings pitched in his first career start. In fact, his start ended a streak of 101 games in a row that Clemson started a righthander on the mound dating to 2011.

Freshman Nick Bateman gave Winthrop the game's first lead when he belted the first pitch of the third inning over the fence down the left-field line. It was his first career home run and ended Clemson's scoreless innings pitched streak at 20 dating to the ninth inning of the first game of the Wright State series on Saturday. It was also the first long ball surrendered by the Tigers in 2013.

Clemson will play #7 South Carolina in a three-game series at three different sites this weekend beginning Friday at 6:30 PM at Doug Kingsmore Stadium.
