CLEMSON, S.C. — A Clemson men’s basketball game was decided by three points again Friday. For the second straight time, the Tigers escaped with a victory. Clemson held off High Point in a 62-59 triumph in Littlejohn Coliseum to move to 4-2 on the young season. The Panthers fell to 4-2 overall.

Jaron Blossomgame and Landry Nnoko both produced double-doubles for the Tigers. Blossomgame led the way with 14 points, all in the second half, and 13 rebounds. Nnoko added 10 in the scoring column with 13 rebounds. High Point’s John Brown led all scorers with 26 points.

Clemson led by as much as 12 in the first half and led by 10 at intermission when Sidy Djitte made a layup before the horn sounded. The Tigers limited the Panthers to just 16 in the opening half, their lowest total in a half this season.

High Point was hot to start the second stanza, connecting on four of its first five three-pointers. The Panthers evened the score at 36 and 38, but Clemson put together a 16-6 run to extend the lead to double digits again. But High Point crept back in cut it to 54-51 on a reverse layup by Brown.

Clemson made its free throws down the stretch, hitting 14 of 16 in the second half. Inside the final four minutes, the Tigers were a perfect 6-for-6.

The Tigers stay home for the second of four straight in Littlejohn. Clemson and Rutgers compete in the ACC/Big Ten Challenge on Monday, Dec. 1 at 7 p.m. The game will be televised by ESPNU.

Team Notes

• Clemson beat High Point 62-59 on Friday, its second straight win by three points.

• The Panthers scored just 16 in the first half, Clemson’s fewest allowed in the first half since the 2013-14 season opener vs. Stetson.

• Clemson made 87.5 percent from the free throw line, its best figure of the young season. The Tigers shot 16 free throws in the second half after none in the first.

• The Tigers had 16 offensive rebounds Friday, their highest mark of the season.

Individual Notes

• Landry Nnoko posted his first double-double since Jan. 11, 2014 against Duke. He finished with 10 points and 13 rebounds in collecting his third career double-double.

• Nnoko saw his streak advance to 15 consecutive games with at least one block. The junior center posted two blocks to bring his career tally to 94, tying James Mays for 12th in school history.

• Nnoko reached double digit rebounds for the first time this season and fifth time in his career.

• Patrick Rooks saw his first action since the opener and responded with a double-figure scoring night. Rooks made 3-of-5 from three and totaled 11 points in 12 minutes.

• Jaron Blossomgame collected a double-double a second straight game, finishing with 14 points and 13 rebounds.

• Blossomgame made a career-high six free throws Friday.

• Blossomgame blocked two shots, his high since the Maryland game on March 2, 2014.

• Jordan Roper posted a career-best six assists Friday; he played 34 minutes after Rod Hall suffered an injury in the first minutes of the game.

• Donte Grantham produced double figures for the fourth time; he finished with 11 points in 36 minutes.
