CLEMSON, S.C. — The men’s basketball program was one of three Clemson teams honored Wednesday for outstanding achievement in the classroom when the NCAA released its Academic Performance Public Recognition Awards. Brad Brownell’s program ranked among the top 10 percent of all Division I teams (346 total), the first time the Tigers have achieved the mark.

The APR measures eligibility, graduation and retention each term and provides an academic performance report for each sport. The most recent APR scores are based on a multi-year rate spanning 2011-12, 2012-13, 2013-14 and 2014-15.

“We’re extremely proud to be among the top 10 percent in the latest APR,” Brownell said. “We take great pride in the academic progress our players make, and these numbers certainly reflect that. We want to thank the staff at Vickery Hall for the guidance and work to provide our players with the resources necessary to excel in the classroom.”

Under Brownell’s watch, 11 of 12 seniors earned undergraduate degrees through the completion of the 2014-15 season. The Tigers will soon add three graduates from the 2016 senior class as well. Jordan Roper earned his degree in December in three and a half years, while fellow seniors Landry Nnoko and Josh Smith are on track to graduate in May.
