Deshaun Watson and Chad Kelly projected 1-2 in 2017 Mock Draft |
The Clemson Football team had a stable of talented quarterbacks with
Deshaun Watson,
Chad Kelly and
Cole Stoudt back in 2014.
The latest 2017 Mock Draft has been released by CBSSports.com on Tuesday and Clemson quarterback Deshaun Watson was projected to go with the first overall pick to the Cleveland Browns. "If Cleveland is drafting No. 1 overall, the experiments with Robert Griffin III and rookie Cody Kessler were a failure," CBSSports.com said. "Watson lacks ideal size but has the arm, athleticism, and moxie to potentially turn into a franchise quarterback." Watson completed 333 of 491 passes for 4,104 yards and 35 touchdowns and also had 207 rushes for 1105 yards and 12 scores this past season. His 5,209 yards of total offense and his 47 total touchdowns were ACC records, and his rushing total was a record for a Clemson quarterback. Former Clemson quarterback Chad Kelly followed right behind Watson in the Mock Draft as he was selected with the #2 pick to the San Francisco 49ers. "Unless Chip Kelly is able to resurrect the careers of Colin Kaepernick or Blaine Gabbert (or get a kick-start out of rookie Jeff Driskel), the 49ers will be looking for an upgrade at quarterback in 2017, if selecting this high," CBSSports.com said. "Kelly -- the nephew of Hall of Famer Jim Kelly and not related to 49ers coach Chip Kelly -- possesses the arm and athleticism to be an ideal match in Chip's offense. He comes with questions on and off the field, but he is an undeniable talent that could soar up draft boards with a big 2016 season." In 2015 at Ole Miss, Kelly passed for 4042 yards with 31 touchdowns and 13 interceptions. He went 10-17 with 58 yards in his five 2013 appearances with Clemson.
