had his East Wilkes high school #74 number retired this past friday. He is the second football player ever (Luke Samples) to have his number retired at the school.

Walker had 49 career starts and 3,131 snaps at Clemson and was named a permanent team captain his senior season.

"Did I ever think I was going to start as a redshirt freshman? No way,” he told the Wilkes Journal-Patriot newspaper. “Did I ever think I would start for four years there and break a career starting record at Clemson? No way. I did things at Clemson… not that I didn’t think I could do them, I just thought they would never happen for me and they did. The hard work that I put in here paid off there.”

Walker currently works for Hendrick Motorsports and is a gas man for Nationwide's Chase Elliott and Sprint Cup's Kasey Kahne.
