Former Clemson OL Jake Fruhmorgen chooses new school |
Thursday afternoon, former Clemson offensive lineman
Jake Fruhmorgen committed to play football at the University of Florida.
Fruhmorgen confirmed the news to TigerNet. "It's just the best place for me. I built a great relationship with the coaches at Florida and it is the best fit," Fruhmorgen said. Fruhmorgen chose Florida over LSU. He made the decision to transfer from Clemson in early January. The 6-5, 290-pounder had seven knockdowns in 245 snaps over 11 games (one start) as a true freshman in 2015 and took over as the starting right tackle last spring. Fruhmorgen started the first eight games of the season but suffered a shoulder injury that kept him out after the Florida St. game. A few weeks later, head coach Dabo Swinney said Fruhmorgen had left the team to deal with personal issues. Before Clemson, he played in the U.S. Army All-American Bowl; played offensive tackle in high school, but played center and offensive guard in the game. He was the No. 73 player and No. 16 offensive tackle in the nation by 247Sports.com (23rd-best signee entering the ACC), the No. 89 player and No. 8 offensive tackle in the nation and No. 18 player in Florida by Rivals.com, the No 93 player and No. 7 offensive tackle in the nation and No. 18 player in Florida by ESPN. He led his team to an 11-2-1 record as a junior.
