A man who is accused in a fatal stabbing was wounded after he ran away following the attack, burst into a nearby home and was shot by the resident last weekend in west Harris County.

Walter Garrett, 35, is charged with murder in the stabbing death of Quentez Rashaad Ruffin, 25, in the 2100 block of Park Maple about 4:30 a.m. Sunday, according to the Harris County Sheriff's Office.

Deputies said Ruffin was flown by LifeFlight medical helicopter to Memorial Hermann-The Texas Medical Center, where he was pronounced dead.
