Height: 6-1 Weight: 180 Hometown: Tallahassee, FL (Godby HS) Class: 2006
Florida State has come into South Carolina for years and taken out of some of the state's finest prospects. The Tigers have not had as much success in pulling players out of the Seminoles' backyard. Things were a little different in 2006.
Clemson went into to Tallahassee and landed DeAndre McDaniel. McDaniel was a top ten prospect in the entire Sunshine State. Safety was a top priority for the Tigers in this class, and McDaniel was near the top of the wish list. McDaniel is a tremendous athlete, and he could see the field immediately. A lot will depend on the spring. Chris Clemons and Chris Russell will have a chance to nail down the two-deep at free safety, but McDaniel may have his say. This is a position where no one player has the edge in experience. The most talented player is going to see the field. Clemons and Russell may very well prove to be the most talented players come August, but the upside with McDaniel is hard to deny. McDaniel has good speed, and he will make plays. He will add depth to a secondary that has some holes to fill with the losses of Tye Hill and Jamaal Fudge. Freshman Forecast: 50/50
