Running Back 6-1, 200 Tarboro, NC The senior, who led Tarboro to its third consecutive NCHSAA 2-A state football title in December, is ready to make his college choice, and that announcement will happen at 2 p.m. Friday in his school’s gymnasium. Gurley, who has earned the past two Telegram All-Area Offensive Player of the Year awards and also was named the state’s 2011 AP Prep Football Player of the Year, is expected to choose between offers from N.C. State, Georgia and Clemson. “We’ve had some good conversations,” Tarboro coach Jeff Craddock said. “He seems pretty comfortable with the choices he has left. I’m not sure if he is 100 percent yet, but he is drawing near the end of the process. He has handled everything well for being a 17-year-old man with all the attention.” He ran for more than 2,600 yards and 36 touchdowns during his senior season. As a junior, he rushed 139 times for 1,472 yards and 26 touchdowns. Also, he had 79 tackles, an interception, and a forced fumble. He was an All-Area Offensive Player of the near. Won state title in 200 meter hurdles and ran a 4.30 40 time recently. His personal bests are 100 Meter Dash in 10.70, 110 Meter Hurdles in 14.13, 200 Meter Dash in 22.85, and 300 Meter Hurdles in 40.89. #10 rated player and 5 star recruit based on the 2012 AthleteVault NC/SC Rankings.
