Jamie Cumbie has been the hottest name when it comes to the 2006 recruiting class for Clemson. He jumped on the radar very early, and he has been a hot topic ever since.

Cumbie is a South Carolina native, and he grew up a Clemson fan that has all been well documented. The new news with Cumbie is his baseball status.

"I have four professional tryouts this summer. We still have a few weeks left in conference play of the regualar season I am just trying to get through that right now. Regardless, I still plan on signing somewhere to play football, but right now I am not even sure if I would get drafted."

Recently, Cumbie made another trip to Notre Dame to visit with head coach Charlie Weis.

"The Notre Dame trip went well. I enjoy their campus, and I really like Coach Weis. He understands that I grew up in South Carolina as a Clemson fan. He was very respectable towards Clemson and he said he would understood if that was where I went. Clemson is still my leader."

Where does he stand on a commitment?

"It is getting close. After the end of May, it could happen really anytime. I want to have my family around when I make my decision. They have played such an important role for me in this process. They deserve to be there when I make my decision."

Coach David Blackwell is recruiting Cumbie.
