With Clemson's struggles in the punting game, it would stand to believe that Greenville, SC native Richard Jackson would have a good chance to play as a freshman.
Jackson made his official visit to Clemson this past weekend. "It was a big weekend for Clemson. Some of the (uncommitted) guys came in, and some are coming later. A lot of the commitments were in this weekend too. Jad Dean was my player host, and we had a really good time together." "I got a real good feel from the returning players and the coaches. Everything is starting to look up for Clemson." Jackson had a chance to sit down with the coaches and get a good feel for what they expected from him in the future. "Eventually, they want me to handle all three kicking duties. Jad and Cole are seniors, and I am pretty sure they are not looking to sign another kicker. Hopefully, I can do all three and free up a scholarship." Jackson really shyed away from talk that he could come in and play right away next season. "We will see when I get there. I know Clemson had problems in the punting game this season, but they are changing the formation." How will Jackson spend the rest of his senior year at Riverside High School? "I am just going to be lifting weights and training for next season." Jackson said his visit to Clemson would be his only official visit.
