Seahawks coach: Former Clemson DB 'done playing ball'

by -

Former Clemson defensive back T.J. Green has stepped away from a professional football career, per Seattle Seahawks coach Pete Carroll.

Green was drafted by the Indianapolis Colts in 2016 and released with an injury settlement in September. The Seahawks had signed the Alabama native earlier this month. On Monday, the Seahawks announced that he was placed on the 'left squad' list.

“He was ready to stop playing football,” Carroll told reporters. “I don’t know any more about it than that really. He was done playing ball.”

In 2017, he had 45 tackles, zero interceptions and one pass deflection in 16 games. Green totaled 88 tackles and three pass deflections in 31 games (11 starts) over two seasons.

He picked up a hamstring injury during preseason action in August.

Green tallied 95 tackles, 5.5 for loss, with three pass breakups and two forced fumbles as a junior at Clemson.
