only FSU and Texas are in the top 12 outside of those teams.

Are SEC or B10 next year. ACC, B12 and G5 get autos though so 9 of 12 if you applied next year format to this years poll.

It often makes sense. Those are the best conferences at the moment.

At the moment, ACC teams have more wins over SEC teams this season. Facts are strange things.

You do get that the two best teams in the big 12 (Texas + Oklahoma) joined the SEC

And Oregon+ UCLA are joining the big 12.

To be honest - it feels like the AFL–NFL merger. The largest programs are forming their own league and playing each other.

This will result in more lucrative television contracts and better on the field play.

Right now FBS Division 1 is a joke. Teams with 10-100x the "payroll" / facilities are playing in the same conferences and resulting in blowouts. 120 teams and at best 15 are competitive.
