Is when people take a case or a complicated issue, come up with an example that isn't relevant to it at all, and pitch it to make it sound like the two are comparable.

Parents who allow their children to have access to weapons have responsibilities _ primarily to control that access to supervised activities like hunting or gun ranges. Failing to do so is negligence.
