10/20 5:52 am my son was born...

Everything went great during delivery. During the night his breathing rate started increasing. We are now in the hospital. They (we) are hopeful he just needs oxygen a couple of days to help his lungs develop a little more. He has a feeding tube, antibiotics, and monitors all over him.

If you are a Christian, pleae pray for a speedy recovery and for his lungs to develop. Also, pray for my wife that she will get some rest as we are both going on pretty much no sleep since about midnight of 10/20.

Thanks.

Men at 25 play football. Men at 40 play tennis. Men at 60 play golf. Have you noticed as men get older their balls get smaller.

Congrats! He'll be good.

My son was born 5 weeks early and was in NICU for 36 hours. Had a shunt in the top of his head and all that. I feel your boy will be fine. Congratulations!

My guess is he looked up at his exit point and thought of good things to come down the road. ;)

Then again, I didn't stay in a Holiday Inn Express last night...

Praying for your little warrior! Nothing beats being a Dad!

Don’t forget to focus on your wife. That little fella has plenty of people watching over him. Make sure y’all rest up for the road ahead.

He turned the corner. He is still on oxygen but it is just a steady stream now instead of assisted breathing. He has made a lot of progress. We are able to breadt feed now, but they are leaving the feeding tube in for now just in case he needs it again. Hopefully, it will be out tomorrow.

He will be on antibiotics IVs for about 5 more days in case he develops pneumonia. It is mostly precautionary for that.

Tldr... i think we are through the worst of it. Thank you all for your prayers and good wishes.

Big, huge, yuge turn last night.

Brought in some pumped milk last night about 9 pm. Nurse said that should be enough to get through the night.

Several times through the night the canulla kept coming out and was blowing on his face. He would wake me up crying... i fixed it about 3 times, and couldnt get it two other times and had to get the respiratory tech to come do it. The third time, she said that throughout all of the times coming out, his O2 never dropped. Lets try taking it off. Breathing tube comes out and his oxygen holds.

Also, he starts crying around midnight canulla is fine... hey, lets try feeding him even though it is an hour early. He eats and then sleeps. After the canulla is out around 2:30, he is fussy again. Lets feed him again. He ate the rest of the teddy milk. Had to slow him down some cause he was eating so fast... well, he is eating fine now, lets take the feeding tube out. At 4 ate again... i apparently slept through the next one because when wife got there around 8, they said he had another snack at 6 and may not quite be ready to feed. Maybe he wasnt ready to eat... maybe he just likes suckling neeples, but he went to town on teddies as well.

So far today he has sucked teds many times, had all the stuff off his face and is only on antibiotic IVs.

Thank you all for prayers, thoughts, well wishes, tots and pears.
