1. Why is Washington not throwing it deep like they usually do? That last drive was better, but early on they were trying to do too much running and short stuff and I think that really compressed them in and made them easier to stop. I think they're much better off trying to stretch the field and turn those receivers loose. But part of it might be that Michigan has been pretty good in coverage so far.

2. Texas and Oregon have to be kicking themselves right now looking at how easily Michigan is gashing this defense. If they had just run the ball and committed to taking deep shots they could've absolutely had their way. The problem was that they got tripped up with all these batted passes, mistakes, and sloppy play at the line of scrimmage while trying to focus on the short and lateral passing game instead of trying to stretch the field. It made them one-dimensional and much easier for Washington to stop. I like the Huskies and hope they win, but I think Michigan is really exposing just how bad that defense is. They were able to get away with it against Oregon and Texas because those two teams didn't execute well enough offensively to make them pay for it. They both had the weapons to do it in my opinion.

Think Michigan playing 2 deep safeties to keep everything in front of them. That said they may adjust in the second half to get more medium (10-15 yard) routes in the second half.

What everyone saw in the first half was the Michigan defense which is #1 in the nation and a missed touchdown pass by Penix.

1. I believe the Michigan defense is overpowering the Wash line too much for Penix/coaches to feel comfortable with a lot of deep shots.

2. Michigan has one of the best rushing attacks in the nation. Not a lot of defense could stop it.

The interior of Washington's OL is getting dominated, seems familiar..

Penix is something else though.
