2014 Outlook

Jan 4, 2014, 10:45 AM

Not that I don't want to enjoy last night's win, but I can't help but look forward to next season. Anyone care to discuss?

Morris will have his work cut out for him. Just 5 starters back on offense assuming Bryant leaves. I'm actually not as concerned about replacing Tajh as I am replacing Sammy and Bryant. You can't really replace a guy like Sammy, but who is going to stretch defenses vertically for us next year? I do feel better knowing that experienced guys like Peake, Hump, Hopper and Williams are all back. Those last two should improve a lot in the offseason. Overall, a lot of talent coming back next year but not enough experience for me to reasonably expect the offense to improve. I do think we'll at least be more balanced next season.

I have very high hopes for the D next year. We'll have 7 starters back assuming Beasley leaves; and 18 of 22 from the 2-deep. I look at the depth chart and am blown away by how deep and talented we are across the board on defense. We took a huge step forward this year and I expect to see another one in 2014.

Can't wait for that trip to Athens.

Got to find a game changer on offense. We have had Sammy,

Nuke, spiller etc... We need a star next year. Not sure we have that type of game changer on the roster.

True train but

A strong D and a much better runnin game will ease that.

Mike Williams will be just as if not better than Bryant with a spring and fall camp, it would be just plain stupid to say that we will replace Sammy - we can just hope to minimize the dropoff. TE will be stellar next year with Leggett and Seckinger only being freshmen and sophomores. I'll hold my judgement on the an situation for later. The running game will be better with the addition of Dye and Gallman being power backs. On defense regardless of what happens with Beasley we will have a top 5 dline and the secondary will continue to improve. LB play may be a question mark depending on if Anthony stays or not but we have talent there and on off the best LB coaches in the country. Overall there maybe some dropoff but I am not expecting much - the defense will definently carry the team though.

Brad Brownell: more losses than any other coach in school history.

Defense and running game. In fact, it may be better for us

to change to a slow, pro style offense. I think Cole sets up better as a drop back passer, and we'll have some power backs, too.

But the defense should be dominant, esp if we can get the safeties to know who to cover.
