I'm hearing all sorts of rumors about FSU and who they are targeting for QB next year. I don't know who to believe. I'll just wait and see what happens. But, here is the most prevalent rumor (this is from on3, but other sites are saying the same thing):

Oregon State quarterback D.J. Uiagalelei has emerged as Florida State’s top target in the NCAA Transfer Portal, On3’s Pete Nakos confirmed on Sunday evening. He hasn’t committed yet, but both sides are expected to engage in talks in the near future. He visited the Seminoles earlier in December and the highly coveted signal-caller is expected to eventually decide between FSU and the NFL.

I will assure you of this right now - Regardless of who FSU signs out of the portal, I understand I am a guest here. I appreciate your acceptance of me. I think I've convinced most of y'all that while FSU is my favorite team, Clemson is a close 2nd. If DJU signs with FSU I will expect a lot of trash talk about him and FSU. I understand. But, it won't be my job to try and defend him or FSU on this board. If he bombs out and throws 5 interceptions when Clemson comes to Tally next year, y'all feel free to call me out and blast away. If he leads FSU to the national championship and wins the Heisman, it will not be my job to remind you of that on this board. (BTW, neither of those are very likely, but the 5 interceptions is the more likely of the two.)
I would love nothing better than for the last ACC game Clemson and FSU ever play will be in Charlotte next December and then they could meet again, for the third time, in the middle of January regardless of who is the QB at FSU.

You are a good dude Bret and very respectful on this board in contrast to so many who are not
That being said, I think it's a mistake for FSU to pick up DJ, but I also think sometimes you are in a position where you have to make to choices that you think will put your team in the best position to win...good luck to the Noles next season but I still hope we beat ya pretty good

Just an honest opinion about DJU. The kid has talent for sure. A cannon for an arm, but wants to be a pocket passer. He NEEDS an outstanding OL to be effective. He gets rattled easy and has issues making quick decisions when under pressure. If you look at his stats from last year at Oregon St. he played extremely well early, but it was against the bottom half of the Pac12 that have weak defenses. Once he got into the meat of their schedule his stats were no better than what he put up at Clemson.
My biggest issue was when he left Clemson he started blaming all the short commings on offense on the coaches and didn't take one once of responsibility. While the problems were NOT all his on offense for us he certainly didn't help the issue at all.
On another note. I do enjoy your posts. IMOP you are welcome here.

And I can’t understand why FSU is banking on this guy. I feel like it’s based completely on his deemed “potential”. He didn’t light the world on fire at Oregon State. He did okay, sure, but is he really the best FSU can get?
Great arm strength
Poor decision making
Plays well until he makes a mistake, then becomes a mental case
That’s what FSU will be getting

DJ would not take FSU anywhere. He has no touch, lacks accuracy and is slow with his progressions. Maybe he will improve and be able to complete the simple passes with more frequency. Drops were an issue with the WR’s in his time here because he would just throw lasers all the time.
Be ready to scratch your head on about 25% of his throws.

Just so that I understand, please confirm the following for me. FSU just had the worst bowl loss in its history— the largest margin of defeat in bowl history— due to players who quit on their team. That’s in the record books forever regardless of any “opt-out” justifications. That record will come up over and over on TV broadcasts and I assure you that score and the video will be used in recruiting against FSU and Norvell. “You want to play for the guy who led his team to the worst bowl loss ever? “ “Do you want to be on the FSU sideline looking up at the scoreboard the next time he gets blown out like this?”
After what just happened to FSU it’s worth noting that DJ’s last act was to bail-out on his team so that they could get embarrassed with a pathetic 32 point loss to Notre Dame (40-8). Again, that loss is in the record book forever regardless of any opt-out justification on the part of the player. This is already the second team DJ has bailed on before its bowl game (Oregon State, Clemson) where his former teammates lost in embarrassing fashion. In light of this clear pattern along with the fact he’ll run out of eligibility next year the likelihood he’ll opt-out of playing in a bowl game to preserve his NFL stock (risk of injury, risk of looking bad against a bowl team) seems very high.
For the consistent level of play and the consistent actions you’ve seen from DJ with the last game of both Oregon State and FSU in mind — gut-wrenching losses that WILL have a long lasting impact — do most Nole fans actually want this?

I didn’t watch Oregon State much, but I did watch them enough to see DJU do exactly what he did here. DJ was still pre-selecting where he was going with the ball and he goes there no matter what. The read #1, read #2, read #3 is rare with DJU and it completely disappears when a defense brings pressure. Big guy, strong guy, nice guy, howitzer for an arm…..but he ain’t gonna win you a game with good decisions.

Brett, do your thing and thanks for your posts, they are generally more logical than a lot of others on here.
2024 is going to be interesting for a lot of teams, especially FSU.
There is no lack of opinion and criticism of DJ, but of all his qualities good or bad, his natural demeanor does not command response or encourage confidence in his teammates. He lacks fundamental leadership that is necessary in big time football at any program that is under a microscope like Clemson, FSU, etc
While his humble personality and low key ego are admirable, it can also be his achilles heel.
PS: I think he gets horrible advice from those around him, especially his father.

You are good people regardless of our differences in school choices. Always enjoy reading your post. Like everyone else’s we can agree to disagree on some things but you are still good people and I do not believe I’m the only poster on this site that shares that same sentiment.
