32 years clean and sober for me today

Jun 11, 2021, 9:24 AM

well clean covers sober, but that's another story.

If using drugs and/or drinking does not cause you any problems then you don't have a problem, carry on.

If you think you might have a problem with drugs or alcohol, you probably do. People that don't have a problem don't wonder about it.

If you have to drive and stop at two drinks and wish you were drinking a third and then have a drink as soon as you get home, you might want to look at that. Normal people stop and don't think about it again and go home and go about their business.

If you wake up in the morning hung over and look in the mirror and ask yourself why did I do that again, you might have a problem.

If you have googled how much do I have to drink to be an alcoholic, then you probably have a problem. Normal people would not wonder if they are close to the imaginary line.

I would either be dead or my body would be used up by now if I didn't get help. Today, my life and health are really good. I never had to wonder if there was a problem. It was very obvious. Obsession about the next one and then compulsion to use until it was gone or I was passed out or just really high.

If somebody you know needs help unfortunately there is not a lot you can do except encourage and hope. It's a decision that you have to make for yourself. If you need help get some whether it is AA or NA or the Church or whatever may get you down the path to a healthy life.

Someone was curious how much you have to drink to have a problem. So I googled it.

####, I knew I shouldn't have tried to help.

A prospective employer once ask me if I had a drinking problem. I said, 'No, as long as I have plenty to drink I don't have a problem.'

I asked a subcontractor if he drug tested his men. He said, 'You dammned right, if they don't take drugs we give them some to keep them from ratting on the rest of us.'
