when they cut the grass, it looks really good. Other days, it looks like crap. I thought about buying a mower and starting to cut it myself. Then I figure it'd take about 4 months to pay for itself...and 2 of those are the hottest months of the year. Then I figured in my time, and what else I'd rather be doing than cutting teh grass (anything), and it just wasn't worth it.

It was a Husqvarna I bought from Lowe's with a Honda engine. At the time, I think the coverage <$100. Anyway, it was a self propelled deal and the wheels were gear driven. But the gears are part of the plastic molded wheel, so they don't last very long and shear off the gear teeth. The first time it broke, it was right outside of Lowe's warranty, then it became a pretty regular occurrence, and was about $75 to replace each time. I went through about 3 sets of wheels and eventually sold it when I moved to Clemson.
TL/DR version: The coverage was worth it because crappy Husqvarna engineering.

I bought a Honda push mower, pre-covid. IIRC I spent about $650 on it. Maybe it is a 20 incher?
This is much bigger, prolly a better engine, composite deck, etc.

I don't think anything "Toro" is gonna make it in the commercial world.

A kid (I say kid..he's early 30's now) in my old 'hood who started cutting grass when he got out of high school had a Hustler zero turn and used Stihl and Husqvarna weed trimmers.
No way the Toro would make it through an afternoon of the abuse those things took.

But fur real. When I let the bermuda get too long I can do about one circle with the bag on and then I have to unload, as well as going real slow through the deep parts. It takes so long the $1.5k would be a worth investment.

Lowe's in Sinecur has 1 on the floor. YUGE for a push mower.

Has twin blades that supposedly cuts the clippings finer for better mulching.
But what do I care. I don't have any grass.
