Gage Cervenka

Anybody think he would make a good coach one day? I know he is the OL coach at Daniel right now so he would aggravate the 'Friends and Family' crowd. I think he would be good at teaching leverage from his wrestling days. He seems like one of our more underrated players to come through the program.

As long as he stays at Daniel, we know we can ###### him back up at a moment's notice.

Gage is a great dude. Knew him/his family back when I worked at M.H. Frank. Really rooted for that guy.

No reason why he can't be - he's played a ton of good football and is a Clemson Man through and through.

A couple of interesting facts about Gage...

He's a Greenwood boy (like me).

He was recruited and redshirted as a DT before switching to the OL.

He was one of the top, if not the top wrestler in the state and a four-time state champion, which makes him the only four-time state champion in South Carolina history

His high school wrestling record was 199 - 1. His only loss occurred his freshman year.

Good kid and a good family.

There’s over 20 others who have won state championships 4 times in wrestling. Including former Clemson player Johnathan Willard.

He was not the only 4 time State Wrestling Champion. I am Fan of everything Gage accomplished, but there are a handful or 2 of 4 Time State Champions.

He may make a good coach one day but please no more coaching hires that resemble anything related to the "Friends and Family Plan." If Clemson doesn't have the long financial resources to compete in the NIL world with the likes of UGA, Bama, Texas and the rest of the SEC, I think it is important to have a coaching staff that has a resume' and history of developing players and getting them to the NFL. This is how you attract the top talent. Let Gage gain some experience and credentials, other than saying I played for Dabo, before he is even considered for a coaching position.
