A parting thought about Famous Jamous

Sep 20, 2014, 7:49 AM

I don’t post very much anymore but, I felt I had to weigh in on the Jameis Winston suspension. These young men are more than a pulse and a touchdown. They are God built young men from the toes up who have a momma, a daddy and a past. Jameis is not the first who got a pass on his horrible behavior because he was blessed with an athletic talent and he will not be the last. I can only give credit to Jimbo and the FSU staff for trying to stop the cycle of violence here and now. Let’s face it, there IS a cycle here. We may not know the details but, statistically, we know it is there. I can only hope this young man can learn what it is to be a real man before someone else gets hurt.

With no reflection on FSU intended, I would like to take a second to contrast Dabo with all others. I cannot help but believe Dabo instinctively senses a pattern of behavior from time to time in a blue-chipper and passes. There have been a few recruits I felt Clemson should have gotten but, I didn’t know the whole story. Many times, I find those recruits become very troublesome at another school. Dabo’s class and character seems to have permeated our program to its core and I am thankful. Sure, there have been suspensions and there will be more. In general, however, Clemson doesn’t have to fight a daily struggle with a bunch of franchise players behaving badly.

Thanks Dabo!

I'm confused.....

Have you been under a rock? Jimbo and those clowns deserve no credit. Jimbo thought it was funny! What they did was too little, too late, in my opinion.

Some of these young men have real issues, coming from

unstable, undisciplined backgrounds. A wise coach knows this, and continually counsels them from the first day. When they step over the line, the coach must show them the consequences of bad behavior. In some case, it will be the first time they have experienced care and discipline. It is not just the discipline, it is the continual counseling, to explain what can happen. I believe I heard that Sammy Watkins asked his mother to come to Clemson to help keep him in line. If so, I think maybe our coaches helped him reach that decision. In any event, it may have changed his life.

Go Tigers.

Character counts!

Our coaches are good football coaches and good men who care enough about their players to discipline them. Go Tigers!

I differ in opinion.

FSU and Jimbo are trying to stop nothing except damage. The history of this kid alone it's obvious that they sweep things under the rug and take action only when forced to do so.

I stopped at "give credit to Jimbo"

If it were up to Jimbo, #5 would be playing.

There's something in these hills.
