A quick note on "didn't want to be there"...

First of all, I haven't read a lot of OU fans saying this. Just some commentators.
However, as I always say...if you lost because you "didn't want to be there", that's on you. You had a game to play. If you don't have the character to prepare and perform on that day, it doesn't make the loss better. If anything, it makes it worse. I'd rather say I lost giving my all but the other team was better that day.

As I have said earlier. I never(and probably no one our team) said at the beginning of the year, "I hope we make it to the Russell Athletic Bowl this year." It's where we ended up and we took care of business. I don't think this was the case for OU. Just the commentators trying to make excuses for them.

Its not like we overacheived this year and were glad to be in this bowl, as you said. We blew a couple of games and then got acrewed a bit by the powers that be in getting a New Years Day bowl instead. Our guys had very reason not be excited about playing on a Monday late afternoon but we still showed up.

realized they didn't want to be there. There is a big difference in Clemson's attitude with Dabo and staff than it was with Bowden.

My cousin played in that bowl game. I asked him what the Tennessee player said to Duane Coleman before the coin toss that lead to him slapping the guy upside the head. He told me the guy made fun of his hair. He said Duane was a hothead on the field and his play sure showed it.
AS to not wanting to be there....That's pure BS !

Yep, and I think we didn't want to "be there" against UK

in Nashville a few years later. Tennessee thought it got screwed out of a bigger bowl in Florida. I don't recall where we thought we were supposed to go when we went to the Music City Bowl, but that game was much worse than the 28-20 score might indicate.

In 2006, we just finished the season...

on a major downslide. Blew a couple of games and got our tails beat by the Hokies. We were in line for the ACC title after our GT/Gameday win and then the wheels fell off.
Im not sure were we were supposed to go that year, but given the season ending results, people just wanted the season to end at that point.
UK probably had 50,000 fans there and we had only about 10,000.

to the pregame yesterday and Hood said it didnt seem Okla was as into the game as CU. I dismissed it as media talk because we've all heard that before. I'm not sure what the deal was but I loved seeing us stomp them. I was pulling for the shutout. When I think of all the unmerited media hype they get and the times they ran it up on Baylors and TCUs way back when I thought a good dose would do them and their fans no harm.

100% agree. I'm guessing there were seniors playing their last game on OU right? Show some pride. That was an embarrassing performance by that team, character-less

I don't take it literally. I take it to mean that they were flat. I am sure OU enjoyed Orlando but for whatever reason they played uninspired yesterday. And when you lack intensity and the other team doesnt, you get steam rolled.

Maybe. But they were flat on defense too. Team didn't look like they were interested. Maybe they just suck that bad? But I saw zero intensity. They had 1 defensive player actually show emotion. Our guys were bouncing around like jack rabbits. If you watched the game and couldn't see it not sure what to tell you. Stoops was yelling trying to get them out of the funk. He knew his guys weren't mentally ready to play.

The ACC was the best league this year top to bottom. It looked the same when we played the coots. They looked incredibly fast when playing in the SEC, then they play us and it looks like they are in slow motion. VTech looked average on speed, but ground down Ohio State because they were much faster. Louisville was perhaps the slowest of our big teams and when they played Notre Dame they were going toe to toe and showed a dominance of strength. There were 2 ACC teams, UNC and Miami, who shouldn't have been in bowl games to begin with. Duke was an unranked team who e en toe to toe with a top 20/15 team. The only bad loss the ACC had was BC. They got outplayed by a worse team in the end.
