Alan Lawson, whose bio says he was a Rhodes Scholar nominee while at Clemson, has been hired by the ACC

The ACC on Wednesday officially hired a team of five Tallahassee-based lawyers to defend the conference in the lawsuit FSU brought in Leon County in late December.

The ACC’s legal team in Florida: Alan Lawson, Jessica Slatten, Raymond F. Treadwell, Amber Stoner Nunnally and Robert E. Minchin III, all of the Lawson Huck Gonzalez firm in Tallahassee. Lawson, Slatten and Nunnally graduated from FSU law school.

Lawson recently retired from the Florida Supreme Court (Rick Scott appointed him as a judge in 2016) and in early 2023 founded the firm now repping the ACC. He graduated from Clemson for undergrad.

They hired 3 FSU Law graduates to defend them against a suit by FSU? Isn’t this some type of conflict of interest?

I would hate to be the fsu and clemson grads. Especially if I wanted my teams out of the acc
