Shocked by Miss St and Cal being on the list. Expected to see Texas, Oregon, Florida, FSU or even Miami above them. Although Miami hasn't been great, they have had some NFL talent.

Mississippi State does have Chris Jones, Jeffery Simmons, and of course Dak Prescott. Big salaries for those 3.

For those wondering about Cal, Aaron Rodgers makes up $375M of that $816M. Jared Goff, Keenan Allen, and Cameron Jordan have made pretty pennies in their time in the league. There are 13 other guys, eight of which are in their rookie deals, who have contributed to that total but not like the first four.

This was posted by someone else a while back...maybe not this same list but same topic.
IIRC, the Clemson number was bolstered by a handful of players: DW4, Nuke, and Mike Williams. Grady Jarrett had a big impact, too.
For the newer "batch"...Christian Wilkins is about to make a fortune. DLAW just got paid. And Trevor will get a huge raise after next year. Renfrow also makes a chunk of the Clemson total.
