Tyler Brown

2

Oct 4, 2023, 4:29 PM

He's our best wr right now as a 3* true freshman. Obviously the rankings did not reflect his skill. IDC the reason why so don't try to explain it. He was a 3 star PERIOD.

Cole Turner wasn't rated highly either but isn't and will not be better than Tyler Brown. Even with a year exp under his belt.

It took an injury to find out that TB is special. I don't understand this. How did Grisham not know TB was better than CT?

also it's not like CT is a veteran who waited and worked to finally seal a starting position. He got thrown into it when our wrs went AWAL last year.

Kinda like TB was put in only after the injury to CT.

Our WR unit has been extremely puzzling since JS left. How was Antonio Williams a true freshman the best wr on the field last year? He was. But there's really ZERO excuse for that.

4nc appearances 2nc wins in the last decade or so.
Normally winning championships help your recruiting. Ours dropped! ###

Something is wrong with TG coaching style. We had better wrs in 2001, 30 years after our 1st natty.

It really doesn't make sense. Wrs are a pain to watch. Beaux Injures pinky every few games, gives up on routes. Stellato is one attempted block from getting seriously hurt. I've seen him blown up twice trying to block on bubble screens. Randall just doesn't have separation speed or something idk.

This year's wr class seems a little better but we are going off media education degrees analysis of their talent in HS which ends in 1-5*s. Lmao I hardly believe ratings anymore.

Ronan Hanafin was the highest rated of last year's wrs and hasn't seen the field for any relevant playing time. Anyone know what they're saying about Ronan?

* Heard a fsu commentator who walt was interviewing on the show say, when asked about Tyler Brown, say "oh yeah super highly recruited guy and they've been raving about him since he hit campus. 🤨 Um no both are false.

Lmfao your entire post turned to #### as soon as you said “hEs a 3 StAr pEriOd”. Do you think he plays like a three star?? Why hasn’t the coots all world 5 star been on the field like TB? Did you miss countless interviews in the spring/fall camps when they repeatedly said how good TB was going to be?? Do you know how good Turner would’ve been the more the offense gelled?? Swear for people to act like they’re on the building 24/7 and know everything there is to know y’all don’t know ####. I really hope y’all are 100% perfect in every aspect of your life like you expect everyone else to be, if you can’t see changes in the room then you refuse to look at it objectively due to not being able to control your outraged emotions.

These guys need to be coached harder so they all can have a balance of high competitiveness when that ball is in the air coming in their direction. Williams and Brown are closer to being polished thus far compared to the rest of them.

Stelatto in my opinion is raw and wild like Shipley once he catches the ball.

Randall I think needs to be definitely a 50/50 jump-ball type of receiver for the time being until he can find some confidence in himself to get consistent seperation.

I can understand (I think) a point/question that you make about judging talent that we have - perhaps Grisham, but will say coaches in general. Points made:

- Would Brown have been given the playing time (and have been discovered) if injuries weren't presented. Don't know, but they did speak highly of his speed prior to the season
- Same question for Stellato? - not sure. Wasn't given the praise like Brown, but really impressed by him.
- Cole Turner - nice catch in ACCCG last season - was going to be the next great WR, per coaches but didn't do much in games prior to injury
Prior years:
- Ngata - nothing but praise but didn't see translate to game (QB issue contribute, but WR issue contributed to QB too)
- Ladson, Ajou, Dacari Collins, etc.

I know the coaches attempt to play the best players (based on assessment during practice), but I can at least see why some fans could question some thing based on Stars vs Performance. I also believe that sometimes the best in practices does always perform better in games (perhaps nerves, etc.)

Zay Flowers and Jordan Addison were 3* players. Smaller guys. Both became NFL first round picks.

Prior to 2022 recruiting class, Clemson dismissed these smaller guys in the aftermath of our gold mine of great big WRs (with Justin Ross - signee of 2018 recruiting class being our last truly outstanding talent tall guy). We still signed highly rated 5* big guys since the 2018 signing class (Frank Ladson - bust; Joe Ngata - not able to get separation, EJ Williams - mediocre hands) come to mind. Lower rated tall WRs such as Dacari Collins were also signed by us. The only (eventual) successful tall WR is Beaux Collins. Beaux probably won’t reach Tee Higgins or Mike Williams level, but he has played well for us this year after 3 disappointing seasons.

I believe that Tyler Grisham has had a big role in getting Dabo away from a complete fixation on tall receivers. The success of short WRs Jordan Addison and Zay Flowers is indisputable.

As fall back options, we were lucky to get Antonio Williams and Tyler Brown. Had we been back in 2020, we would have given that WR spot to a big WR prospect like Ajou Ajou.

We are learning and adjusting as we see how smaller receivers can be game breaker stars for us just as J.Addison and Z.Flowers were for Pitt and BC, respectively.

Oh yes, Beaux Collins has clearly developed and improved since arriving on campus. He also stuck it out with us instead of transferring. Our coaching staff (including T.Grisham) deserves credit for contributing to our much improved WR corps.
