Debated on having any 25 years ago. You could slowly see the moral decline and knew it would not get any better. I never figured I would see what I’m seeing today in my lifetime. People are debating what used to most people be considered common sense.

The work was clearly worse on the whole 50, 100 years ago let alone even further. Poverty used to much more widespread and many fewer people had any rights at all.
Mass murder, rape, enslavement used to be commonplace. There’s a history podcast that listen to and pretty much every country they cover has periods of history that have all of that and more

which all essentially boil down to the same thing. At some point in the life cycle of any intelligent civilization, they ultimately reach a point in technological advancement where they can destroy themselves. The theory as to why we've never been contacted by an alien race is that they've all destroyed themselves before they could do so.
Humans have now had the ability to destroy themselves for nearly 80 years since the first nuclear bomb was detonated. Pretty soon we will surely develop more ways of doing so....
It's really chilling to think about.
