Always thought of Clemson Football being more dominant Defensively over the years..

except for the DW4 & TL16 offensively strong years but even then the D's were ranked top 5 and helped win their share of big games.

Nothing like a long pass or huge run for sure offensively but there's something about our D's working their buttts off to save our buttts, the crowd into it & loud and it's do or die if the D fails to hold.

What you think?

I enjoy great defense, yet having an offense that can keep them off the field some too.

Top defensive squads are definitely fun to watch at Tiger Town.

Danny Ford would agree

Those great Ford era teams were dominant Defensively

And to this day I love Defense. But the game has changed. Dabo and Chad and Deshaun changed it up in 2015-16 and forced Saban along for the ride. IMHO Bama's Defense was top 3-4 all-time in Clemson's 2016 championship win and better than Tigers at approx. 15 of 22 positions. Still Deshaun proved to be a fearless and talented QB who could take Bama's best punches and take down even the best Defense. This changed college football by forcing Saban and the SEC to recruit and play Offense.

And maybe the best defensive play of the 16 champ game was made by an offensive player....Renfrow td saving tackle!

Remember Saban's worrying remarks about the legitimacy of the hurry-up offense in the early 2010s when Clemson started using it? He knew his teams would have trouble with it.

We all love seeing a CU “shutdown” defense. It can make up for a number of Offensive ills. But when Clemson has a shutdown defense And a productive offense…well, you know what happens then..Go Tigers!!

Go Tigers!!!

Great defenses win games, but our offense has to keep them off the field sometime. I think we ran 10+ three and out one game this past year. Come on, give the defense a break. That over a season causes lots of defensive injuries. It also doesn’t let the 2nd string qb in the game.
