I'm a Dabo fan and hope he retires as HC at Clemson when the time comes several years down the road.

However.....IF Dabo goes to Bama, think about this. Saban and Dabo know each other. Assuming Dabo has ultimately wanted to go back, maybe Saban kept him in the loop on when he would retire. Dabo genuinely loves Clemson and loves people. As we know Dabo always has a succession plan. Think about all of the small weird clues throughout this odd season. There are a few more things that seemed off this year, but:

What if Dabo knew the retirement was coming after this season and not only started breaking out of his nice guy attitude a little this year, but also called out the Clemson fanbase a little this past season. We've all been in a job, put in our notice and checked out a little early thinking about our new role or new company we're going to work for after our two week notice is up at our current company.

What if there's a reason Jeff Scott hasn't been brought back in an official manner but has been close to the football operations and he is actually going to take over? If you recall, he always seemed like Dabo's right hand man. Obviously Dabo is an Alabama alum and Jeff is a Clemson man.

What if Garrett was told there may be an opportunity for a HC position at Clemson, but no promises?

Hopefully I'm wrong and we see Dabo sprinting down The Hill for many seasons to come.

But....have crazier things happened?

Jeff Scott as head coach at Clemson??? Do you remember what he did at USF??? Garret Riley as head coach??? Did you see what the Clemson offense looked like this year??? Also, Riley has not been a head coach at an FBS program. I doubt Clemson will be his first such assignment. Other than these two items, I pretty much agree with everything you say.

Well, actually I think there could be a grain of truth to that idea. Not that all of that happens, but a plan being in place, I can certainly believe that.
