They can’t do that because they need major conference football money to spend twice as much on basketball as anybody else (other than Kentucky who do the same thing).

Bingo. This. Without a conference affiliation and TV deal, they can't subsidize their roundball program at the expense of football.

the second most represented state outside of SC at Clemson is New Jersey.

That is not accurate according to this site. New Jersey is 4th behind SC, NC, and GA. This must just be from once class and not sure how old the data is.

Big 12 wants to be a basketball conf. They will add other basketball schools from the east coast to try and even their conference east and west. They may even try to add all acc teams not invited to the Big 2.

I can see that. Part of me thought the same for Carolina but they care about football to much in chapel hill so that won't happen. Another option would be making the magonila league Duke Vandy (gotta be fun getting them out of the sec) Tulane Get Miami. The problem is most private schools down here are to small to join.

I think they should grab Miami and Louisville if/when the acc collapses. They make sense adds closer team to UCF and gives Cincy a rival in Louisville. Maybe WVU can rekindle some old big east and metro rivalry with Louisville to.
