We have almost cut in half our night games since TB. We have more than doubled our late after noon games since TB. While Nooners have slightly gone up.
So who is the problem? Dabo? TDP? Barker? It certainly isn't ESPN etc.

ESPN's Noon game is now national

It used to be that the ESPN/ABC national/regional time slots were 3:30 and night. Now ESPN has an additional time slot for a national game.

Do you know of anything that you can't prove (or disprove) with statistics??? If you look at the reproduction rate of house flys you can statistically prove that in a few days we can all be up to our eyes in fly sh!t. Probably will not happen!

There are more opportunities to be on at noon now

vs before. Its not just on Raycom anymore. In fact, from a TV perspective being on ESPN at noon right after gameday isn't a bad option.

The noon discrepancy isn't the problem. it only increased slightly.
The biggest thing is the decrease in night games and the increase in 3:00 and 3:30 games.
while noon slots have increased so have night slots with the U etc.

Why is it not ESPN? They control their line-up. What is YOUR point?

That's bull. What does ESPN have to do with games that are not on TV? In the past we held night games against Furman, Citadel, Ball St. etc.
You really think ESPN thinks they get more ratings from UNC/Duke or Miss St/MTSU than Clemson/VT????
Take off the tin foil hat and quit blaming ESPN.

Ok call me stupid.. But why does it matter what times we play. I would rather play late games but, just so the tigers come out on top is what matters the most!

Many reasons:
1. Atmosphere 2. Recruiting 3. Give fans more time to get to games 4. Home field advantage is greater at night 5. More fans show up
the list can go on.

I actually prefer the afternoon games.

In terms of going to the games, they are the perfect time. Wake up at a reasonable hour, get to the game with little traffic, tailgate for several hours, leave after the game, and make it home at a decent time.
Maybe it's just me, but I welcome the 3:30 games.

I do too. Don't get me wrong, a 3:30 to 5:00pm kick is perfect. But I do like a night game every once in a while, say one game a season at least. Not 3 in five years.

Be interesting to know the same facts for USuck
Oct 24, 2012, 3:05 PM
|

Given all of the bad teams USuck has had over the years, would love to know the same info for them vs. us. My point has alway been they have stunk and always had more night games etc. over us.
Tommy Bowden: Average of 1.9 home night games per season. (18/9.5) Average of 1.3 late afternoon home games per season. (12/9.5) Average of 3.3 home noon games per season. (31/9.5)
Dabo: Average of .75 home night games per season. (3/4) Average of 2.75 late afternoon home games per season. (11/4) Average of 3.5 home noon games per season. (14/4)
Thus, here are my questions what is the head to head comparasion.
AND - I know contracts are the primary reason but Clemson needs to make it clear to the ACC and the Networks that WE DEMAND 3:30 or later starts for the majority of our games and NO Noon or 1:00 pm starts.
For the amount of cash I am spending now, I expect a full day of tailgating AND a game not just a game and Noon / 1:00 starts eliminates 1/2 the reason for buying my tickets. PS: tailgating after a game is a waste of time, need to head on home for more football and to allow for travel time.
