ACC trying to keep FSU

May 16, 2012, 11:30 AM

Just read an article ACC is trying hard to hammer down FSU from bolting - including giving them a larger share. I mean, how does that help us or the other schools if that were to happen? Just seems to anger them more and Big 12 is sitting there at the door waiting and smiling. How does sucking up to FSU make this better?

FSU just needs to demand to get rid of Swoffie.

If they give FSU a larger share then you will really see doors open up.

More share for what? Complaining the loudest?

May 16, 2012, 11:33 AM

Being pre-season national champs every year? Underachieving at everything? Mismanaging their AD funds?

not so sure about this Big 12 door waiting on clemson. maybe louisville, cincinnati, or byu.

Beg to differ

May 16, 2012, 12:14 PM

Looking at this objectively, I'd say the Big 12 would opt for CU over the schools you mention. I'm pretty sure that Louisville and Cincy are waiting (and hoping) on the Big 12, not the other way around.

Would you have me believe the Big XII...

is waiting and hoping that Cincinnati decides to show interest or accept an offer (assuming one's been presented)? If Cincinnati had any chance of getting out of the Big East and into the Big XII, the ACC, the Big 10, the SEC or the PAC 12, they'd have been gone long ago. That goes for Louisville too.

That's not even in question.

Swofford now in a no win situation ....

Either kowtow to FSU in a weak attempt to keep FSU from bolting, or pander to FSU and pi$$-off the rest of the league.

Swofford is becoming a victim of his own incompetence.

his problem now is that everyone knows FSU and the Big XII

May 16, 2012, 11:37 AM

are talking...

Derrick Brooks (former trustee) just said the Big XII had reached out to them.

ACC is done.

Re: ACC trying to keep FSU- equal share is a bedrock ACC

hallmark. I cant see anyone getting that removed. Not even if ND expressed interest in joining

JOEL BLAIN ? @denvertigrz
@GSwaim Do you think right now @ the ACC Meetings, FSU are making demands they know the ACC can't meet so they can leave with CU to follow?

I don't understand how that serves FSU? If they plan to

May 16, 2012, 12:17 PM

leave, they can just leave. Pay the buyout and go. What's the point in making demands that they know the ACC can't meet? It's not like failure to meet those demands will get FSU out of their buy-out.

to the alumni, faculty, staff, boosters, and BOT members.

It's purely political posturing.

Correct. Their faculty is in love with the ACC.

The definition of awesome!

Along with every other faculty in the ACC.

Someone should reveal to them that Texas's athletic department contributed 5 million dollars to the academic departments last year alone. Those pompous azzholes are just like teenagers. Give em car keys and a pocket full of money and they'll buy into any plan. Hoars!

2024 orange level memberbadge-donor-10yr.jpgringofhonor-clemsontiger1988-110.jpg flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

Not really a fair comparison

May 16, 2012, 12:41 PM

Considering Texas made more in ticket sales alone last year than our entire athletic department. TV money won't close that gap.

I didn't compare anything.

May 16, 2012, 12:47 PM

Find a place or a way to maximize the revenues of Clemson's athletic program. Texas may be far from our grasp but that does not prevent us from reaching.

Re: ACC trying to keep FSU

Follow GSwaim on Twitter - the guy has a very good reputation and really has no personal interest in Clemson or FSU - very reputable. He's been posting alot today - claims ACC/FSU are in discussions but said ACC cannot match what Big 12 is offering - even with the buyout. He states Clemson's chances of coming are not clear but that the ACC has po'd TDP by their latest attempts in negotiating to keep FSU. He seems to think Louisville is a possibility but only if they can't grab both FSU & Clemson.
