Besides Clemson's famous alumni

Aug 16, 2012, 8:15 AM

What players do you recall seeing play against the Tiger's, and later went on to stellar NFL careers?

To start, I recall: Boomer Esiason (Md)
Deion Sanders (FSU)
Phillip Rivers (NCSU)

I recall Ken Willard, Ken Stabler, and several others. And don't forget that LSU had a 'pretty good' player who played against Clemson in the '57 Sugar Bowl!
We also played Southern Cal in the early 60's I believe in Anaheim and they had a few big time players.
coach Howard once said that he was going to Ken Willards graduation to show how glad he was that he was leaving college football!

My first neighbor when I graduated from Clemson and moved to Winston-Salem. Great guy and player who never got the chance.
I later moved to another apartment and had an OL from Wake as a next door neighbor. I will not mention names but this guy convinced me back in the mid 60's that ALL schools allowed football players to be admitted that were not super star students! And he graduated .... thanks to his wife for being a teacher!
