David Angel Interview

While reliving the distant past and responding to some basketball posts on what is really the Football board, I figured I would go to the right board and post one more on Basketball. While looking for stats, I stumbled across this David Angel interview I found interesting.

Big Bird!

I’ve known Big Bird my whole life. He and my dad are good friends.

He’s the biggest human I’ve ever seen. When I was growing up, Bird always had the biggest Lincoln he could buy. He drove with the seat pushed all the way back and the seat partially reclined and he’d look out the back window.

He is one of the kindest, funniest and best people I’ve ever known.

two things I really remember, one, remember him being way too slow to play in the ACC of the time, which was unquestionably the best basketball conference in the country. Two, remember him getting clocked in the head during a game, and bleeding like a stuck pig. This was before anybody knew anything about AIDS, he stayed on court for a play or two before they made him come out.

Tree Rollins, Skip Wise, Stan Rome, and that whole bunch got on campus my sophomore year, and changed Clemson basketball completely.

I knew big Dave and "little" Dave very well. Great people and always fun to be around. I played a couple of pickup games in the gym with him. He could really hit those layups, lol!
