Big Takeaways From The BC Game

First, Tigers win and go to 6-0. Proud of these guys big time!
a. Tiger Defense and Special Teams played a very nice game. Too bad BT missed that FG
b. The Tiger Offense is this weird symbiotic beast that is very co-dependent on itself. First drive was great then dropped TD pass put them in a funk until end of second. When the WRs make the catches they need to DJ then shifts into another gear and can score like a machine. When WRs drop or odd playcalling takes the team out of rhythm we get those 3 and outs.
c. The Red Bandana Effect was alive and well. Jurkovic was under pressure ALL night, over 30 pressures and not one INT despite literally throwing 8-10 ill-advised ducks up. On any other day Clemson D should have had 2-3 picks. BC's magic red bandana paid dividends.
d. Holding AGAIN and AGAIN and AGAIN. A team that gets 30 pressures and a few sacks not getting a SINGLE holding call is not statistically possible.
e. Hafley should be send a year's supply of Vagisil or a free 58% Pulse TNET account. Biggest whiner on the planet and should be shipped off the FCS. Dabo and team did not do anything other than play the game to the end. Hafley thinks because he gives up and puts in his 2nd string QB that Clemson must do that too. Hafley should have his Red Bandana taken away for being a QUITTER.
f. Great discipline by a lot of young players: TWO (2) count them 2 penalties for 10 yards.
Anyone who cannot see all the great things building in this team needs to stop wearing slim fit chinos, give up organic chai tea and go get a BIG BO Box with a 1/2 gallon of Sweet Tea.
GOOO TIGERS!

Great post, but I disagree about special teams. The punting game was atrocious on both sides of the ball.

That might have been as much holding as in the Wake Forest game!
It’s ridiculous, crazy how we get called for it though.
Dabo would complain more but it might help our offense when we get to the playoffs…lol

Proud of the team whether they're 6-0 or 0-6. There's no debate there.
Kinda wish we'd move on over this whole holding thing. Probably could be called every other down on either team. Most of it is just good technique on a very thin line.
No mistaking, the defense won this game. As many stops as they had and forced 8 punts, we only ran 62 plays. We punted 7 times. Has the offense improved from last year, yes. The OL is actually a bright spot. The offense (Streeter) has a bit to work on. Red bandana game or not, BC defense is not good. We regressed in our offense as a whole this week. We're not ready to face a top 5 defense. Fortunately for now, we don't have to.

This was a trap game. We slept walk through the first half.
My main takeaways:
-Refs will not call holding on teams playing us. -We were slow to make adjustments. We did at half. -BC QB is pretty good. He single handedly prevented sacks in 1st half. -Wiggins keeps improving -Teams are going to stack the box and dare us to pass -DJ still needs to improve footwork. The INT was because he threw off his back foot. -If we ever get the entire defense healthy, it will be bad news for any team we play. -I rea.ly liked the wat Goodwin mixed up blizes in 2nd half. -We have to find a way to get Shipley more involved in the running game even against 8 man fronts. -We are going to be the superbowl for e every team we play. We get everyone's best shot.

DJ stayed in the game because DJ needs the experience.

I know it may be difficult to understand and I love that he is improving but he needs to grow more than sitting on the bench and thinking he's all that. I believe he can be 'all that,' but it seems his HC doesn't.
Leaving him in had nothing to do with running up the score or taking it easy because of some 'special emotion,' attached to BC's 'red hankie,' game. I am not insensitive to their emotions but a 31-3 loss is the least of their problems on the field.
Had we played anything other than a soft zone they would have been even more embarrassed at their team's performance, or better said, failure.

Half of the special teams looked good. We drop too many punts. Idk why but I get nervous watching us field punts since Sammy in 2012. And potter missed a field goal although I thought it was good. They had a awful camera angle on it but it looked like he kicked it so high, it was hooking but went across the top of the upright. But they never showed a review of it so I don’t know.

Only one punt drop was the fault of Taylor. Guy ran into him.
